In 1972, 11-year-old Mary Lou, 13-year-old Eloise, and 17-year-old Jayne Harris joined their brother Hibiscus—founder of the legendary San Francisco troupe the Cockettes—as he returned to New York to form a new incarnation of the Angels of Light, bringing glitter, music, drag, and radical liberation to the Off Broadway world.
Now, more than five decades after they first took the stage, the Harris sisters are sitting down for a rare reunion, moderated by Executive Director of The LGBTQ History Project August Bernadicou, editor of Devour Me, Again (Nightboat, July 2026), the new poetry collection by Angel of Light Bambi Lake. The evening will feature readings from the collection, which will be available for purchase.
