Come share in an evening of queer poetry, flowing with the rhythms of flamenco, at The Bureau of General Services — Queer Division, located inside of the New York LGBT Center. The night will feature performances by flamenco dancers as well as pieces from poet–dancer pairings.
The first set will be a flamenco performance, with a second set of the evening featuring newly formed poet–dancer pairings, each creating a 7–9 minute structured improvisation performed live. The work will unfold in real time, with an improvised soundscape created by guitar + MIDI, responding to what’s happening in the room moment by moment.
We expect this event to sell-out, with a large amount of people in standing room. We’ll reserve chairs for the elderly and people with disabilities — please reach out if you need to reserve a seat.
The Bureau of General Services—Queer Division is Manhattan’s only queer bookstore, located on the second floor of the LGBT Center. We’re open Tuesday-Sunday from 1-7pm and accessible by the 6th Ave 1 2 3 L trains and 8th Ave A C E trains. Our cafe, The Bureau Cafe, is open Tuesday-Sunday from 9am-7pm.
