At the intersection of the autumnal equinox\, harvest moon\, & her 27th birthday\, Topaz Winters (Portrait of My Body as a Crime I’m Still Committing\, Button Poetry) gathers four writers of poetry & prose to share work on the precipice of becoming: jason b. crawford (YEET!\, Omnidawn Publishing)\, Caitlin Conlon (Burning the Ghost Light\, Central Avenue Publishing)\, Kirsten Shu-ying Chen (light waves\, Terrapin Books)\, & Mia Arias Tsang (Fragments of Wasted Devotion\, Quilted Press). Before the light begins its long walk home\, find these writers mid-sentence\, reading pieces still shy of final form. Nothing stays level for long. Join us while the scale still holds. \nThere will be a signing after the event. Copies of the authors’ books will be available for purchase.  \n* \nTopaz Winters is the Singaporean-American author of So\, Stranger (Button Poetry 2022)\, which won the Button Poetry Short Form Contest & was a 2025 Sealey Challenge Pick & LitBowl Best Poetry Book of 2022. Her debut poetry collection\, Portrait of My Body as a Crime I’m Still Committing (Button Poetry 2019 & 2024)\, was a finalist in the Broken River & Gaudy Boy Poetry Book Prizes. Topaz’s poetry\, fiction & nonfiction are published in The Drift\, Waxwing\, Passages North\, Pithead Chapel\, Foglifter\, & others. Her work has received support from the Studios at MASS MoCA\, the Sundress Academy for the Arts\, & the National YoungArts Foundation. She serves as the editor-in-chief at Half Mystic Press & lives between New York & Singapore. \nCaitlin Conlon is the Pushcart-nominated author of Burning the Ghost Light (2025) and The Surrender Theory (2022). She has a BA in English and a Creative Writing Certificate from the University at Buffalo. While there\, she was chosen for the Friends of the University Libraries Undergraduate Poetry Prize\, and the Arthur Axlerod Memorial Prize for Poetry. Her writing and literary reviews have appeared or are forthcoming with Eunoia Review\, Gather\, Anti-Heroin Chic\, and Rust + Moth\, among others. She’s @cgcpoems almost everywhere. \nKirsten Shu-ying Chen was born and raised at the Jersey Shore. She is the author of the poetry collection light waves by Terrapin Books. A MacDowell fellow\, Chen was also a finalist for the Autumn House Press Chapbook Prize and the Tomaz Salamun Chapbook Prize\, among others. DESCRIPTION:RSVP TO THIS EVENT HERE \nIn 1972\, 11-year-old Mary Lou\, 13-year-old Eloise\, and 17-year-old Jayne Harris joined their brother Hibiscus—founder of the legendary San Francisco troupe the Cockettes—as he returned to New York to form a new incarnation of the Angels of Light\, bringing glitter\, music\, drag\, and radical liberation to the Off Broadway world.  \nNow\, more than five decades after they first took the stage\, the Harris sisters are sitting down for a rare reunion\, moderated by Executive Director of The LGBTQ History Project August Bernadicou\, editor of Devour Me\, Again (Nightboat\, July 2026)\, the new poetry collection by Angel of Light Bambi Lake. DESCRIPTION:RSVP TO THIS EVENT HERE \nAs an early supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community\, and an advocate for childhood literacy\, Dolly Parton leaves behind a legacy as big as her personality. Join Brian D. Kennedy\, author of A Little Bit Country\, and his friends as they celebrate the impact Dolly had on their art and their lives. An evening of performances\, conversation\, and trivia (with bookish prizes!)\, to honor the legend who taught us to “find out who you are and do it on purpose.”    \nA limited number of signed copies of A Little Bit Country will be available for free\, with a suggested donation for the bookstore. \nApril Salazar (she/her) is a writer and storyteller based in New Jersey. She started in radio at Manhattan’s WKCR\, where she held many roles\, including the one closest to her heart—host of The Tennessee Border\, devoted to classic country. More recently\, her work has been featured in The New York Times\, NPR’s Latino USA\, and PRX’s The Moth Radio Hour. \nBrian D. Kennedy (he/him) is the award-winning author of A Little Bit Country and My Fair Brady. Born and raised in Minnesota\, he now lives in New York City with his husband and more books than can reasonably fit into a one-bedroom apartment. When not writing\, he can be found working at an LGBTQ nonprofit and obsessing over all things Dolly Parton. \nJustin Kirkland is a writer and journalist whose work has appeared in GQ\, NYLON\, The Guardian\, and more. Originally from East Tennessee\, his writing often looks at the intersection of culture and politics\, with a focus on queerness\, socioeconomic class\, and the South. He also hosts This Is Not a Weapon–a deconstructionist podcast about growing up Evangelical. He lives in Brooklyn with his husband and two cats\, Jimmy and Puddle. \nMark Sanderlin is a voice actor\, musician\, and author based in New York City. You can hear his voice in over 350 audiobooks. The Washington Post has described his narration as “intellectual\, musical\, knowing…[and] subversive.” Kirkus has awarded him numerous Earphones Awards for Excellence and called his work “a listening masterpiece.” With two Audie Award nominations\, Mark is much lauded for his narration in a variety of genres for every major publisher. You can find Mark’s work anywhere audiobooks are sold\, and later this fall\, you can read or listen to his debut rom-com novella “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” \nFreeda Lay – Freeda Lay has never been on Drag Race. But she has raised over $10\,000 for the LGBT Center with her fundraising drag shows and game nights over the past 3 years. She lives in Chelsea with her partner\, Christian\, and Primrose\, a toy poodle named after the Hunger Games character. She has been to Dollywood so many times that she has stopped counting\, but is very excited to be going back there this Christmas to pay tribute to the Queen in person. \nThe Bureau of General Services—Queer Division is Manhattan’s only queer bookstore\, located on the second floor of the LGBT Center.
