DESCRIPTION:BGSQD and Hive Mind Books invite writers of all levels and backgrounds to join author Christian Pan in a Queer Erotica Writing Workshop! \nRSVP TO THIS EVENT \n\n\n\n\nDo you have fantasies\, desires\, an over-active imagination? Have you ever wanted to put some of that into a short story? Do you like reading erotica\, and ever thought\, “Yeah\, I could do that!” Do you feel like your particular kind of YUM is not showing up in the LGBTQIA+ lit out there? \nThen grab pen & paper (or a laptop)\, come to the Bureau\, and let´s sweat it out onto the page. \nOver the course of 5 in-person sessions\, this workshop will provide prompts\, tools\, readings\, and discussion of how each of us can bring your erotic story to life. We´ll talk character\, dialogue\, place\, and ways to activate the senses. We´ll read excerpts from other people´s work\, and welcome you to submit excerpts to be workshopped by the class. We will try to get you as close as possible to finishing a draft of that story by the end of the workshop. Participants will also be invited to read an excerpt from their work to invited guests at the Bureau at the end. \nSound like fun? Cost is only $15 per session\, or $50 for all 5 if you pay in advance. We’ve all got those stories. Let’s tell them.  \n* \nNamed one of Time Out New York’s LGBTQ Comics of Color to Watch Out For\, Calvin S. Cato has dazzled audiences around the world. His on-air and radio appearances include Oxygen\, Netflix\, Sirius XM\, RISK!\, WIRED Magazine\, and an unaired pilot for Vice Media called Emergency Black Meeting. His comedy has been featured in numerous festivals and events including San Francisco Sketchfest\, Edinburgh Fringe Festival\, Gotham Storytelling Festival\, Brooklyn Pride\, and FlameCon. In early 2021\, Calvin was published in Kweendom\, an anthology of essays by queer comedians and entertainers. In 2022\, Calvin concluded a 3 month run hosting a daily talk show on RushTix. Be sure to catch Calvin’s latest comedy album Disney Single\, releasing in September 2026! \nLéoh Hailu-Ghermay is a Black\, Tigrayan\, first generation American\, queer artist\, prison abolitionist and reluctant/begrudging/suffering law student. They are talking\, laughing\, loving\, breathing\, fighting\, fucking\, etc. on occupied Canarsie and Munsee-Lenapehoking. They believe that storytelling is the catalyst for literally anything remotely good ever happening and doing it strengthens the fight for liberation of all oppressed people everywhere.  \nGagarin (they/them) is a theatre artist whose work lives at the intersection of dance\, clown & kink. They seek to create art that brings audiences & artist to a primal place from which we can reencounter ourselves and our world. Previous credits include: Who’s Your Daddy (Brick AUX)\, The World’s Tiniest Twink (BAH)\, Body Unredacted (Blessed Unrest)\, Tango Palace (Theatre MITU). \nDrae Campbell (she/they) is an actor\, comedian and storyteller who has performed in every medium. Drae was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for her work in The Nosebleed at Lincoln Center Theater. Drae’s first performance was at age 5 in a nightclub as the opening act for a punk band. Her career in theater and in gender joy started when she was cast as John Henry in The Member Of The Wedding in a local San Francisco production at age 9. Drae has a BFA in Theater from The University of the Arts. But what are we talking about when we talk about gender? Where did the concept itself come from\, and where might it go? \nIn Changing Gender\, the leading trans scholar Susan Stryker invites readers to ride along on her lifelong quest to uncover what gender means and does. She traces the gender concept’s roots in grammar and tells the story of how it transformed into a battleground of the culture wars. From the origins of “Yankee Doodle” to acid trips in Joshua Tree National Park\, from nineteenth-century phrenology to present-day anti-trans conspiracy theorists\, Stryker finds surprising places to tune in to the origins\, idiosyncrasies\, and generative possibilities of the gender concept. Halberstam is the author of seven books including: Female Masculinity (Duke UP\, 1998)\, The Queer Art of Failure (Duke UP\, 2011)\, and\, a short book titled Trans*: A Quick and Quirky Account of Gender Variance (University of California Press) among others. Halberstam’s new book is Anarchitecture After Everything: A Trans Manifesto\, which will be published by MIT Press in August 2026. At the intersection of the autumnal equinox\, harvest moon\, & her 27th birthday\, Topaz Winters (Portrait of My Body as a Crime I’m Still Committing\, Button Poetry) gathers four writers of poetry & prose to share work on the precipice of becoming: jason b. crawford (YEET!\, Omnidawn Publishing)\, Caitlin Conlon (Burning the Ghost Light\, Central Avenue Publishing)\, Kirsten Shu-ying Chen (light waves\, Terrapin Books)\, & Mia Arias Tsang (Fragments of Wasted Devotion\, Quilted Press). Before the light begins its long walk home\, find these writers mid-sentence\, reading pieces still shy of final form. Nothing stays level for long. Join us while the scale still holds. \nThere will be a signing after the event. Copies of the authors’ books will be available for purchase.  \n* \nTopaz Winters is the Singaporean-American author of So\, Stranger (Button Poetry 2022)\, which won the Button Poetry Short Form Contest & was a 2025 Sealey Challenge Pick & LitBowl Best Poetry Book of 2022. Her debut poetry collection\, Portrait of My Body as a Crime I’m Still Committing (Button Poetry 2019 & 2024)\, was a finalist in the Broken River & Gaudy Boy Poetry Book Prizes. Topaz’s poetry\, fiction & nonfiction are published in The Drift\, Waxwing\, Passages North\, Pithead Chapel\, Foglifter\, & others. Her work has received support from the Studios at MASS MoCA\, the Sundress Academy for the Arts\, & the National YoungArts Foundation. She serves as the editor-in-chief at Half Mystic Press & lives between New York & Singapore. \nCaitlin Conlon is the Pushcart-nominated author of Burning the Ghost Light (2025) and The Surrender Theory (2022). She has a BA in English and a Creative Writing Certificate from the University at Buffalo. While there\, she was chosen for the Friends of the University Libraries Undergraduate Poetry Prize\, and the Arthur Axlerod Memorial Prize for Poetry. Her writing and literary reviews have appeared or are forthcoming with Eunoia Review\, Gather\, Anti-Heroin Chic\, and Rust + Moth\, among others. She’s @cgcpoems almost everywhere. \nKirsten Shu-ying Chen was born and raised at the Jersey Shore. She is the author of the poetry collection light waves by Terrapin Books. DESCRIPTION:RSVP TO THIS EVENT HERE \nIn 1972\, 11-year-old Mary Lou\, 13-year-old Eloise\, and 17-year-old Jayne Harris joined their brother Hibiscus—founder of the legendary San Francisco troupe the Cockettes—as he returned to New York to form a new incarnation of the Angels of Light\, bringing glitter\, music\, drag\, and radical liberation to the Off Broadway world.  \nNow\, more than five decades after they first took the stage\, the Harris sisters are sitting down for a rare reunion\, moderated by Executive Director of The LGBTQ History Project August Bernadicou\, editor of Devour Me\, Again (Nightboat\, July 2026)\, the new poetry collection by Angel of Light Bambi Lake.
