SUMMARY:TELL\, a queer storytelling show
DESCRIPTION:RSVP TO THIS EVENT HERE \nHosted and curated by Drae Campbell\, join us at The Bureau for an evening of queer storytelling. This month’s theme is “Ghosts”. Joined by artist and activist Lyssette Horne\, actor and musician Han Van Sciver\, and storyteller Rawya El Chab\, come hear the chaos and the comedy that unites us in our queerness. We’ve all got those stories. Let’s tell them.  \nLyssette Horne is a black\, queer\, artist and activist\, skin cancer survivor and breast cancer previvor. Inspired by the works of Audre Lorde\, Lyssette created Black Queer Roar: A Guide to Self-care in the Face of Trauma\, an online blog sharing the realities and barriers BIPOC Queer and Trans people face accessing health equity. Lyssette’s activism has led to many creative endeavors including an Emmy nominated short documentary about the myths and causes related to youth homelessness. They were also named one of the ‘Top Forty Under 40’ by The Advocate magazine and their work was featured on the cover of Gay City News. \nHan Van Sciver is a Brooklyn-based actor and musician. Theatre: At The Wedding (Lincoln Center)\, An Oxford Man (Manhattan Theatre Club\, Ted Snowden Series)\, and Galatea (New Georges). Film: Regulars; upcoming: The Fell. TV: Elsbeth\, The Walking Dead. Percussion: Joe’s Pub. MFA: Brown/Trinity Rep. \nRawya El Chab is a New York City–based storyteller. Her work digs through archives\, family histories\, and collective memory to explore where personal stories collide with political history. Working across storytelling\, puppetry\, poetry\, and audiovisual media\, she has presented work at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club\, The Brick\, Rattlestick Theater\, and the Exponential Festival. Her recent works include Lula 19/85 & the Pearl of Bekaa and Crossing the Water\, the first two installments of an ongoing trilogy exploring memory\, political inheritance\, and the rise and collapse of the Lebanese left. \nDrae Campbell (she/they) is an actor\, comedian and storyteller who has performed in every medium. Drae was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for her work in The Nosebleed at Lincoln Center Theater. Drae’s first performance was at age 5 in a nightclub as the opening act for a punk band. Her career in theater and in gender joy started when she was cast as John Henry in The Member Of The Wedding in a local San Francisco production at age 9. Drae has a BFA in Theater from The University of the Arts. Drae has been hosting and curating a queer storytelling show for 12 years called TELL\, which has been made into a SILVER Signal Award winning podcast. @draebiz @tellqueerz \nThe Bureau of General Services—Queer Division is Manhattan’s only queer bookstore\, located on the second floor of the LGBT Center.
