DESCRIPTION:RSVP FOR THIS EVENT HERE \nFrom the team behind the international Cruising Pavilion project comes the book of the same name. Cruising Pavilion brings together artists\, architects\, writers\, and researchers to look at cruising as a queer spatial and social practice. How have queer people occupied\, invented\, and transformed parks\, streets\, public restrooms\, bars\, bathhouses\, sex clubs\, and\, more recently\, digital spaces? Join us as we discuss the histories of queer communities\, desire\, visibility\, secrecy\, and the right to inhabit the city differently. \nCopies of Cruising Pavilion will be available for purchase.  \nHugo Bausch Belbachir is a curator and writer based between New York and Paris. He has organized exhibitions on artists Moyra Davey\, Adrian Piper\, Tony Cokes\, Cosey Fanni Tutti\, Tom Burr\, Kim Gordon\, Julius Eastman\, Richard Hawkins\, Sung Tieu\, amongst others. His writing has appeared in Flash Art\, Frieze\, Texte zur Kunst\, Cura.\, Spike\, 032C\, and Frog\, and he has collaborated with various international art institutions and publishers on exhibitions\, catalogues\, and public programs.  \nAnn Krsul Ann Krsul is an architect and founder of Ann Krsul Architecture\, a New York and Michigan-based practice focused on residential\, commercial\, and interior architecture. She received her B.A. in architecture and mathematics from Middlebury College and her Master of Architecture from Yale University\, and has worked with César Pelli\, Bernard Tschumi\, Zaha Hadid\, and David Rockwell. In the 1980s\, Krsul was one of four architects who created Lesbian Xanadu\, an exploration of what architecture might look like if it were conceived specifically for lesbians rather than within the heteronormative assumptions embedded in much of the built environment. The project imagined alternative spaces for lesbian life\, community\, intimacy\, and pleasure. Her contribution\, Welcome to the Pleasure Dome\, is included in Cruising Pavilion: Architecture\, Dissident Sex and Cruising Cultures. \nCharles Teyssou and Pierre-Alexandre Mateos are Paris-based curators and writers. They are among the curators of the Cruising Pavilion project\, presented at the Venice Architecture Biennale\, Ludlow 38 in New York and ArkDes in Stockholm. Together\, they have also curated Paris Orbital at the Pinault Collection’s Bourse de Commerce\, launched Stavanger Secession in Norway\, and co-curated the Art Basel Paris Conversations series from 2022 to 2024. \nJohn Lindell is a New York artist and founding member of the AIDS activist art collective Gran Fury. He had a solo exhibition at Shmorévaz in Paris this past June; he is represented by Corvi-Mora\, London.  \nThe Bureau of General Services—Queer Division is Manhattan’s only queer bookstore\, located on the second floor of the LGBT Center. We’re open Tuesday-Sunday from 1-7pm. Our cafe\, The Bureau Café\, is open Tuesday-Sunday from 9am-7pm.
