This “astounding handbook” (Booklist\, starred review) chronicles the ongoing LGBTQ revolution\, presenting more than 1\,000 facts and figures about LGBTQ people at home\, at work\, at school\, and at play. Professor M.V. Lee Badgett calls the book “the most comprehensive portrait of LGBTQ people around\,” while activist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Mandy Carter describes it as “essential reading for everyone committed to social justice.” \n  \nDeschamps and Singer will discuss how this book differs from the first edition\, which they co-authored in 1994; the event will also feature an interactive quiz highlighting the most eye-opening stats that the authors unearthed during the year they spent researching this project. \n  \nRefreshments will be served. He conceived and co-directed the award-winning PBS documentary Electoral Dysfunction\, hosted by political humorist Mo Rocca\, and co-directed four videos on voting for the New York Times Op-Docs series. Deschamps and Singer have been partners since 1987 and were married in 2012; they live in Brooklyn. \n  \nBennett Singer is the editor of Growing Up Gay/Growing Up Lesbian (a Lambda Literary Award finalist) and 42 UP (both published by The New Press). He co-directed Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin\, a feature-length documentary that premiered at Sundance and won more than 20 international awards\, including the GLAAD Media Award.
