Ralf Dose illuminates Hirschfeld’s ground-breaking role in the gay liberation movement and explains some of his major theoretical concepts\, which continue to influence our understanding of human sexuality and social justice today. \n STARTING AT 2 PM SHARP! \n\nRalf Dose is the co-founder and director of the Magnus-Hirschfeld-Gesellschaft (Magnus Hirschfeld Society) in Berlin. DESCRIPTION:TELL is an evening of story telling from the mouths and minds of queers in NYC hosted by Drae Campbell at the Bureau of General Services—Queer Division. \nSummer is the theme of the second installment of TELL. \nFeaturing special guests: \nCamille Atkinson \nSusana Cook\nKatrina del Mar\nMarcus Hicks \nThis event is free. We will pass a hat on behalf of the performers. \nThe Bureau is not wheelchair accessible–up one flight of stairs. \nThe Bureau has a gender-neutral bathroom. \nAbout the featured guests: \n  \n \nNew York vocalist Camille Atkinson was born in the Midwest and raised in New Orleans. She preforms regularly in the New York area with rockNrollNsoul band Empire Beats \, co-writing songs\, and co-producing the monthly Juke Joint Revue at the Parkside Lounge with Mark Boquist. She’s become a popular hostess in the NY Burlesque scene\, and is always looking to take It to the next level. She came in second this Year in Murray Hill’s Miss LEZ pageant and she wants to cook for you.\n\nhttps://camillebatkinson.com\n\n  \n\n \nBorn in Argentina\, Susana Cook is a New York based performance artist who has been writing and producing original work for over 20 years. She has presented over 17 original plays in New York and around the world. Susana writes and directs all her shows and performs in them with her company . Her work is bold\, cleverly tackling racism\, homophobia and animal rights.  Her cast is comprised mostly of minority and queer women.  Her work has been presented in numerous performance spaces in New York City\, including Dixon Place\, PS. 122\, W.O.W Cafe Theater\, Ubu Rep\, Theater for the New City\, The Puffin Room and The Kitchen. She also performed internationally in Spain\, France\, India\,  Argentina\, Colombia\, Ecuador\, Canada and at several colleges and universities around the country. \nSome of her latest  plays are : We Are Caligula\, The Funeral of the Cow\, The Homophobes\, The Fury of the Gods\, Homeland Insecurities\,  The idiot King\, The Values Horror Show\, 100 Years of Attitude\, Dykenstein\, Hamletango\, Prince of Butches\, Gross National Product\, Hot Tamale\, Conga Guerrilla Forest\, The Fraud\, Butch Fashion Show in the Femme Auto Body Shop\, Rats:The Fantasy of Extermination and Tango Lesbiango \nHer work is archived at the Digital Video Library of The Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics of New York University. \n  \n  \nPhoto by Daniel Jack Lyons\n\nKatrina del Mar is a New York-based photographer\, video artist\, writer and award-winning film director. Her work has been described as “beautiful” exuding an “intimate chemistry” and also as “filth of the highest quality.” Katrina herself has been described as a “major league cutie\,” “a wild woman\,” “the Lesbian Russ Meyer\,” and “apparently\, the lesbian stepchild of Kenneth Anger.” Her solo exhibition GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS was presented in January 2013 at Participant Inc. in New York. Her solo exhibition\, Gangs of New York was presented in 2010 at Wrong Weather Gallery in Porto\, Portugal. Invited to teach at the University of the Arts in Bremen\, Germany\, she conducted the first ever “Queer Trash Feminist Film Workshop\,” also in 2010. In 2012\, she presented a series of films and photographs from the Golden Age of Performance Art (1988-2000 with Dona Ann McAdams\, On the Edge of Society: Moments in Live Art\, at Warehouse 9\, Copenhagen\, Denmark. Her work has shown at Deitch Projects\, NY; Museum for Contemporary Art (CAPC)\, Bordeaux\, France; American Fine Arts Company\, NY; Binz 39\, Zurich\, Switzerland; Bass Museum of Art\, Miami; Miami Light Project; P.S.122\, NY; FabLab\, Berlin; and the University of Cardiff\, Wales. \nHer first film\, Gang Girls 2000\, shot entirely on super 8mm film\, received a four and a half star review in Film Threat magazine\, among other glowing reviews\, inviting comparisons to the legendary Kenneth Anger. The follow up\, Surf Gang\, about a gang of women surfers from Rockaway Beach\, landed del Mar a fellowship in video from the New York Foundation for the Arts\, “Best Experimental Film” from the Planet Out Short Movie Awards announced at the Sundance Film Festival 2006\, and was screened at the Museum for Contemporary Art (CAPC)\, Bordeaux\, France. \nHer latest film project\, Hell on Wheels Gang Girls Forever\, completes the Girl Gang Trilogy and was the recipient of the 2010 Accolade Award of Merit.
